March DT Layout

For this months kit the DT's were given either Cartographer or Stationer's Desk kits by Prima.

Here's my first project using my Stationer's Kit...

I used 4 sheets from the 6x6" Pad  I joined them together - gluing them onto plain 12x12" cardstock, to make the background 12x12" sheet - and adding a bit of gesso.. I also used a few different sheets from the pad as photo mats behind the photo.

The roses on the bottom right corner I cut out from the packaging of the Stationers Desk Flowers - The packaging matches the papers perfectly and was too nice to throw out!

Products used:
6x6" Pad
Stationers Desk Crystals
Stationers Desk Flowers
Stationers Desk Wood Embellies
Tim Holtz Honeycomb mask
Tim Holtz Wire wooden stamp

Aideens February DT project-one sheet wonder!

Hey there everyone!!

So I'm back with my second project for February and this is a fun one-I remember seeing this type of project ages ago and while I was trying to think of something different to make for you guys it came to mind.

So if you haven't heard of it before the one sheet wonder is where you take ONE yes just one sheet of patterned paper-it must be 12x12 and it works best of the paper is double sided.... And you get to make a set of EIGHT co-ordinating cards.

The first step is to cut up the sheet of paper like this:

Please note the cuts are in inches!

Ok now you can see how I have numbered the pieces 1, 2, 2, 3, 3.... Etc

That corresponds to which card it will go on! So following the numbers you will end up with 8 cards.... And it's so easy! Add some lovely embellies and you are done.

I think the video should explain it nicely for you,

Thanks for popping by,

Aideen x

Make a Notice Board - 2nd Project using February DT Kit - Joanne

Hi There - Joanne here again showing you how to make a Notice Board with a plain canvas and paper !

I have a weakness for Notice Boards - I just love them especially ones that are full of colour and texture - mixed with photos and memorabilia ! While I have seen many of them made with fabric - I decided to make mine with paper !

First I bought a plain canvas 30" x 20" - then I painted it with Gesso as I needed to stamp on it. Next I got two sheets of KaiserCraft Paper (Art of Life Collection) - cut them into pieces, distressed the sides of them and stuck them randomly onto the canvas - honestly it is so easy and so much fun !

I stamped some extra images onto the papers (Tim Holtz stamps) and then stamped the gaps using my KaiserCraft stamp (Rocks).  I loved this stamp so much - I bought the full range - they are amazing value !!!

Next I used all my Ranger Distress Inks - combining them in different ways - and because they work so well together - its impossible to make a mistake !

During the next stage I went though all my chipboard embellishments - bits of paper - prima flowers, Tim Holtz elements and just stuck them all down.

And finally I dyed some plain elastic with Glimmer Mist - sprayed onto a baby wipe - and stapled it onto the back of the canvas.  Added a few more elements - and there it is !!!  Can't wait to put it up and start adding to it !  So why not give it a try - you will be thrilled with the results !!

Thanks a million for looking .....Enjoy !

Altered Box - Joanne's New Design Project for February !

Hi there, Joanne here to show you how simple it is to convert a box that you were about to throw out, into a treasured gift !

So there I was sitting in my craft room - about to de-clutter as you do - when I spotted this empty box and thought this would be the perfect item to work with for this month's project !

 One found empty box !

So as you can see - its a plain box and all I did was cover it with one sheet of KaiserCraft paper (from their Base Coat Collection - Cardboard).  I then destressed the edges in black to bring it together.

Then I began to add embellishments from the new chipboard collection from Wycinanka - they are amazing and so easy to work with ! Here I have combined the' large feather's, 'photo film' and' fullness of summer' - in with some prima flowers and Tim Holtz ideology collection.

I sprayed a Petaloo Butterfly with Gold Glimmer Mist and added a Wooden 'R' (Studio Calico) in order to personalise it. Then I added some narratives expressions - and added in some extra prima flowers and chipboard on the side to give it that added touch !  All it needs now is a 'special' something inside -but if you made this - then the box would be the big hit !!!

Enjoy and thanks for looking !

Aideens valentines tussie mussie xoxo

So it's the season of love but valentines is not just for couples-you can make treats for anyone to show them a little love :)

My treat filled tussie mussie is for my sister Aghna because she is my lil twin and my partner in crime!

This was my first tussie mussie to make and they are so easy-all you need is one sheet of 12x12 paper and a few embellies. I had gorgeous embellies in my DT kit so it made it even easier and the project was finished in no time...

As always here's a video all about my make :)

Hope you enjoyed this post,
Happy Valentines to you all,

Aideen xoxo

Card and tag by Kobens

Hi guys :)
Today I want to show you a card and a tag made with my February DT kit :)
This card shape is in my favourite :) I drew this template on to heavy cardstock awhile back and cut it out and I  use it every time I want to do a card like this. I used Kaisercraft Art Of Life 12x12 paper, hand stitched it, then I used Tim Holtz Burlap stencil and light modelling paste (mixed with a little of Graphite Glimmer Mist) I made a lighter pattern in the middle of my card. I cut out frame using Spellbinders Majestic Elements Ovals Dies  and coloured it with Prima Chalk Ink "Attic Dust". Using Prima Chalk "Olive Vine" I coloured the bindweed chipboard. Than I sprayed the cream Prima flower with Graphite Glimmer Mist, add some light grey Prima mini roses and glued everything together. Between the base of my card and stitched paper I put some pleated strips of Kaisercraft paper

The tag was made with Prima Sunrise Sunset stamp, clear embossing powder, embossing ink and Graphite Glimmer Mist. Then I put some gesso on the top and using multi- medium glued a piece of tissue paper. After that I pleated strips of Kaisercraft paper and attached them to the bottom of my tag. I added some Prima cotton tape, and  using my favourite Prima stamps I stamped faux stitches here and there :) Then I added some flowers and chipboard, and a little charm and a black ribbon bow.
