Spool Plinth Halloween Bottles

Hello,

Mandy here sharing a Halloween themed project for August.

I created this project by altering a large wooden spool, altered with Lindys Stamp Gang Embossing Powder in "midnight copper", black lace by Papermania, sprayed white lace with "squeezed orange" by Dylusions.

The box part was created with thick cardboard/chipboard, I made a box that measures 4.5" x 2" x 3".
I painted both sides before I glued it together while flat with black craft paint.  I used Graphic 45's "An Eerie Tale" to cover both sides.  I created a scallop edge for the bottom with some purple paper from this collection too and a top pelmet with covered chipboard using  the "ornate" large die by Tim Holtz.

The top was covered with Prima flowers, a clock paperclip also by Prima and a skull.  The inside was done by filling a large glass bottle with a broken up skeleton and by colouring some Glossy Accents with "fired brick" Distress Ink reinker.  This was dripped over the bottle for a bloody effect.  I also filled a small bottle with the reinker.  I layered over paper labels using the embossing powder and tags from the paper collection.  Some black lace was used along with black gems to embellish.

I hope you liked this project and it inspires you to start your Halloween preparations.  Thank you for looking.  I have included a video on the kit I played with for this project so you can see the product that is available in the Cardz'n'Scrapz shop in more detail.

'Sea is calling me'- mixed media wall ornament

Hello Arty Souls!!!

Mixed media wall ornament is  my second project for April. This time I decided to combine art products from the Kit and Air Dry Clay. I will describe how to use stamps with clay to add even more dimension to your projects :)Enjoy!!!!

Products used:

I used a piece of cardboard as a base for the project. I love up-cycling different materials.

I pierced two little holes for hanging and adhere pieces of paper by Graphic 45.

Than I added a little bit of paint to give the background more arty look.

I used distress ink pad to distress the edges as I aimed for a vintage look :)

I glued the fish net...

And now the fun part with clay:)
I rolled the piece of clay and made it flat so I could cut the pieces of the boat out. And straight away I pressed the stamps into it. Than I left it to dry overnight...

When clay was dry, using my fingers, I gently rubbed the paint into clay. The trick is to rub it very gently so the paint won't go into the letters. Silks and acrylics work very well for this technique.
And of course I added some shells and pieces of coral (found on Coral Beach in Connemara).

To make my boat  stand out, I added piece of vintage dictionary paper (to create some contrast)

I also added bamboo cord as a hanger.

I hope you enjoyed it!!!

My Little Mermaid- mixed media art piece by Sylwia

Hello Creative Souls!

This is my first project as a part of the Design Team for Cardz' n 'Scrapz. And I am excited to share my projects with you!!! I will be showing  how to create different mixed media art pieces including different 3D elements:)

My first project for April is  'My Little Mermaid' painting on watercolor paper. I decided to alter it with different 3D elements and frame it with a shadow box type frame.

Products used:
- Acrylic paints and silks

The kit I used for this project:

I painted a background on mixed media paper using acrylics, silks and I also added some pieces of collage paper (little heart)

 I painted my mermaid :)

To add more texture to the background,  I scratched into wet paint

I added stamps and pieces of paper by Graphic 45

This is how I draw the face. Closed eyes are easier to draw and give the face that dreamy look, which I love :)

I decided to add a little bit of color to anchor, shells and fish net

I altered my painting with anchor, shells and fish net

To adhere the 3D elements I used gel medium.

And I framed it with a shadow box frame:)

I hope you enjoyed it. See you soon!!!xx

Seaside Layout by Marta new Design Team Member

Hello everyone,

It's Marta here with my very first design team project for Cardz 'n' Scrapz
I must say it was a great pleasure to create this summer layout with all fantastic embellishments.
The whole project is stitched around and in the middle too.
I need to admit that sewing machine is recently my best friend.

To create this work I cut out lots of paper strips and squares. All the papers are from 8x8 double-sided Graphic 45 By the Sea Collection. I inked all the paper edges so they could stand out.
The best to use is Distress Ink (black, brown) and inking tool.
I also used gorgeous Graphic 45 By the Sea stamps. I stamped few images on the seperate white card and then cut them out. In this way I created picture embellishments. Here are few close-ups.

Starfish:

Shell:

Ship steering wheel (cut out with craft knife):

Lighthouse and beautiful decorative fish net. You can cut the net and decide of it's size that will suit your project.

I also added cute little shells:

I also stamped some wording:

Materials used:

Graphic 45 By The Sea Double-Sided Paper Pad 8"X8"
Graphic 45 By The Sea Cling Stamp #1
U.S. Shell Decorative Fish Net Natural

 Shells Mini 50gm

I hope you have enjoyed this creation and I will see you soon for more seaside inspirations.
Have a great day everyone and create ! :)

Love,
Marta xx

Hidden Treasure - Mini Album

Hi everyone!! It's Sandie here today with the first project for the new Cardz 'n' Scrapz design team. This month we received the most fabulous Nautical themed kit to work with and I couldn't help but make a mini album from it. I also altered a wooden box to make a treasure chest to store the album in.

The Supplies I've used are
Mini Album:
Papers - Graphic 45 By the Sea 8x8 Collection
Cardstock - White, Blue, Yellow, Kraft & Dark Red
Stamps: Graphic 45 By The Sea #1
Blue & Natural Twine

Chest:
Frayed Burlap Distress Ink
Clear Embossing Powder
Brads

I cut the album pages from heavy cardstock, and sized them @ 5.5" x 4" to fit inside the chest. On the top left corner I punched a hole, using the large side of the crop-a-dile, and added wide eyelets for the binder ring to feed through.

The front cover has loads of dimension and texture. I cut the postage stamps from one of the papers, inked the edges and mounted them onto 3D foam dots. The Kaisercraft anchor is also popped up on foam.

Inside there are pockets and pull out tags for extra photos and/or to journal on.

I added some extra nautical metal charms. Love the fish net with the shells.

On each of the tags I also punched a hole, with small side of the crop-a-dile, and added eyelets to thread the twine through

With these pages I wanted to show all of the papers so I left them pretty clean and simple.

Here are some close-ups shots....

I stamped the starfish out with Mustard Seed distress ink and then heat embossed it with clear embossing ink.

Thanks for dropping by today. I hope you enjoyed it.
